Tell us about your sports and fitness background: How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Take us back to your first WOD…what was it and how did it feel?
Got exposed through Marc Followwell. He had been talking about it during the softball games as we were on the same team and felt intrigued by it. My first WOD recorded was 10 Push Press @55# - 200m run, 15 Push Press - 400m run, 15 Push Press - 800m run. I'm pretty sure I was laid out on the floor after this workout and have been after numerous workouts sense.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CrossFit?
I took before pictures not long after I started and have since taken after pictures, during week 5 of the Living Live Better Challenge. Seeing these images side by side you can see the changes more drastically. I would recommend this anyone who starts CrossFit and wants to see the results. I have lost weight and inches while adding muscle and toning in various areas.
What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected?
I actually enjoy seeing what the WOD is and then doing it. I've never been one to go to the gym and workout as it has never really appealed to me. Coming to CrossFit now has priority to the majority of my day and the people who attend make the workout enjoyable and manageable.
Please share with us any favorite CrossFit/CrossFit Brownwood memories:
Having the Skyler waiting to advance to the next station during the WOD while I was struggling and constantly encouraging me pretty much sealed the deal on CrossFit for me. I am a really competitive guy and from what I know of Skyler he is also, but he took the time to make sure I completed each and every step during one of my first workouts and that was an eye opener to how the members of CrossFit Brownwood are.
Any advice for people just getting started?
I would take before pictures and stick to doing CrossFit for at least 2-3 months and then take after pictures. The results are amazing. Also, try your best to adjust your nutrition as it is a huge factor in being able to have the energy during the WODs and the benefit of eating healthy is worth it.
What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit?
I play video games, build websites, and play slow-pitch softball.
